by Webmaster last modified 2007-07-18 18:15

Potsdam is best known by foreign tourists for the castle ‘Sans Souci’ and the conference at the end of World War II. in the castle ‘Cecilienhof’. Both castles and their surrounding parks are visited during this tour.

The ‘Big Three’ of world politic in summer 1945 – Stalin, Truman and Churchill – met in Cecilienhof castle to decide upon the future of the pacified and occupied Germany.

On this tour, the last castle ever built by the royal family of Prussia and part of the surrounding park along the ‘new lake’ are visited. The castle of the last German emperor, built in the style of British land houses, is visited inside and around.

The following special points of interest will be part of tour P2:

  • Castle and park Sans Souci, including the grave of Friedrich II.,
  • New lake and the ‘Marble Palace’,
  • Visit with 1-hour guided-tour in Cecilienhof and its castle grounds and park,
  • KGB quarters and prison.

Due to traffic or time circumstances, the list and the order of the above mentioned points may vary and may not always include every single one. The interests and wishes of the individual groups will be considered and realized as often as possible. The final decision on the possible route and stops is always up to the tour-guide.
